Title: Exiled Light.
Materials: Bioluminescent bacteria, acrylic, multichannel sound, Artificial Intelligence algorithms (LLM).
Year: 2025.
Description: Human beings have multiple ways of communicating. Language, primarily spoken but also written, gestures, caresses, tastes, aromas, images, etc. We use all our senses to send and receive messages. Likewise, all living species use different physical means according to their nature, including bioluminescent organisms.
But what do organisms that produce light naturally want to communicate? What forms of messages can be expressed through light in a non-linguistic world? This work is a reflection on interspecies communication and non-human intelligence.
For this work, artificial intelligence was used, which, based on the molecule that generates light in living beings (luciferase), generated a language that does not exist and wrote a text about the problems bacteria have in communicating in an unknown world, where light is obtained by electrical means. The sound heard in the installation was created from this text, and the sculpture that glows thanks to bioluminescence was modeled.
